Digital Dentistry and Implant: Digital dentistry applications have increased the success and aesthetics rate in implant treatments and reduced the error rate and treatment time. Thanks to 3D imaging methods and software, possible restoration and the most ideal implant placement angle and depth are obtained. Thus, the risk of surgical complications is reduced and the prosthetic superstructure to be built on the implant is prepared perfectly.
What is an Implant? It is the name given to artificial tooth roots made of titanium alloy, which are placed in place of missing teeth to fulfill their task. Implants; It consists of two parts, prostheses and implants. If you have missing teeth and do not have a negative situation for the application, the most correct procedure is implant application. If you have missing teeth and do not have a negative situation for the application, the most correct procedure is implant application.
How is it done? Unless the patient specifically requests general anesthesia and sedation, the procedure is performed under local anesthesia. After local anesthesia is applied to the area, the operation area is opened. After a small incision is made in the gingiva, special tools called drills are used that open a socket in the bone. Implants are placed in place of the opened slots.
After: Implants are applied in one or two stages. After the double-stage implant is placed, it is covered with the gingiva. After the bone fuses with the implant (1.5 -2 months), a second procedure is performed under soft local anesthesia on the implant, and metal parts called healing caps are placed on the implant. After waiting 1 week and 10 days, it is ready for the prosthesis stage. In a single stage, the implant and the healing head are placed at the same time. In this way, the patient is prepared for the prosthesis stage to be made 1.5 months later. The method to be applied is decided according to the bone quality and the adhesion of the implant to the bone. The one-stage technique is preferred because the patient does not need a second surgical procedure.
Things to Consider: The doctor who will make the implant must be knowledgeable, skilled and have seen many cases before, so when you decide to have an implant, you should choose the doctor carefully and by researching. The implant brand to be used must be proven, certified and globally accepted. Moreover It is essential to make a very detailed planning in the case where the implant will be made.
Even if you don’t have any teeth or your existing teeth will be extracted with the Fast & Fixed method, implants can be made on the day your teeth are extracted and you can have (temporary) fixed teeth on the same day. In cases where there is bone deficiency in the posterior regions, fixed prosthesis can be made using angular implants with this technique without the need for further surgery. With this technique, it is possible to make implants on the day the teeth are extracted, and in edentulous patients, implants can be made and fixed prosthesis can be made on the same day.
In the All On Four technique, which is used in patients with no teeth, a fixed prosthesis can be made by placing 4 implants on it, without the need for too many surgical operations. In this treatment method, where the dental prosthesis is fixed on the same day, permanent prostheses are made after 3-4 months.
Thanks to this technique, the implants placed at special angles to sufficient bone in this anterior region and the superstructures suitable for them, the patient starts to use the temporary prosthesis on the same day.
Implant supported prostheses are made in two ways. It is divided into two as fixed prostheses and removable prostheses. Fixed prostheses are preferred in cases where there are fewer missing teeth.
Removable dentures, on the other hand, are made in cases where there are many implants and where there are many edentulous areas. It can be applied to every patient according to the patient’s oral condition, multiple or single tooth deficiency.
If there is not enough bone, patients need bone formation. If we need a small amount of bone, the patient needs bone powders of bovine origin (xenograft) and the materials we call the membrane that will cover it in the form of a tent.
If the amount of bone is too small, bone formation is performed by taking bone from the patient’s own bone. After these procedures, which should be performed by experienced surgeons, 4 to 6 months are expected. After the bone matures, the patient is implanted.
Immediate implant is the application of the implant immediately after tooth extraction. It can be applied if there is no infection in the tooth and there is enough bone in the area to be applied. The immediate implant is usually applied to the anterior teeth.
In cases where there is not enough bone to place the implant in the upper jaw, special implants placed in the zygomatic bone (cheekbone) are called Zygoma, that is, Cheekbone Implant. Thanks to this technique, fixed teeth can be made for patients with melted jawbones. Zygomatic Implants; It can be applied in patients with advanced bone resorption due to early tooth loss, in patients who have failed sinus lift operation or bone grafting, implant losses, and patients whose upper jaw has been removed due to jaw tumor.
