22 Mar After Brackets Installed!
Bracket Dislocated or Broken
In orthodontic treatment, the breakage or dislocation of the brackets is usually caused by eating hard foods. In addition, the adhesive on the bracket may weaken over time and cause it to come off. The bracket has come off from where it sticks to your teeth, but; If it is still attached to the archwire, do not force it out. If this does not cause you any discomfort such as pain, the bracket can stay in the mouth. You can wait for the part that bothers you by covering it with the wax (wax) given to you. For your displaced or broken bracket, you should call my orthodontist and inform and make an appointment for a near future.
Tape Release or Break
First of all, it is necessary to avoid hard foods. However, if the band attached to the molars comes out and shakes, this band should be replaced within a few days. If not, the gap in which the band is placed may close again and adversely affect your treatment time. That’s why you should call your orthodontist, schedule your appointment in a few days, and have the band reattached.
Arc Wire Breaking or Sinking
The ends of the wires may change direction while brushing, or the wires may start to look longer as your teeth move and settle during treatment. Since the wires are made of steel, there is no self-extension and expansion. The long ends of these wires can sting in soft tissues. In this case, you can push the tip of the wire to the other direction with the help of an eraser on the tip of an erased pencil, or you can cover it with the wax (wax) given to you, then you can make an appointment with your orthodontist and cut the ends of these increased wires.
Wound Formation in Soft Tissue (oral, lip, cheek)
In the first week of orthodontic treatment, white sores may occur in the soft tissues where the wires or brackets touch, as the mouth is not accustomed to wires. These wounds can cause pain in thin skin as a result of the abrasion of the wires inside the mouth. This thin skin gets used to the wires over time and your wounds heal. During this time, you can deal with the places where the wires touch by placing candles again. Apart from that, salt water gargle can also relax you. If your sores take more than a week to heal, you should consult your orthodontist.
