24 Feb What are Implant Supported Prostheses?
Emident Oral and Maxillofacial Clinic Dentist Ali Osman Emiroğlu gives information about implant supported prostheses.
“It is a type of prosthesis applied in fixed or removable prostheses made on the implant, single or multiple tooth loss.”
The difficulties of using removable dentures, the fact that these dentures accelerate the melting of the jawbone, and the cutting of teeth in the teeth adjacent to the edentulous area in fixed prostheses (crown-bridge prosthesis, that is, tooth coating) are the disadvantages of traditional dental treatments compared to dental implants.
Implants applied to the jaw not only provide support for the artificial tooth, but also maintain the volume of the jawbone.
Prostheses made on implants replace real teeth and create a natural structure. In prostheses on implants, restorations are made by taking support from the implants placed directly in the edentulous area. While missing teeth are completed, neighboring healthy teeth and jawbone are also preserved. Thanks to the confidence of the use of a fixed prosthesis, it eliminates the negative psychological effects of tooth deficiency in patients.
