16 Mar What Happens If Missing Teeth Are Not Treated?
Emident Oral, Dental and Maxillofacial Clinic Dentist Ali Osman Emiroğlu talks about the problems that may occur when missing teeth are not treated.
“Untreating missing teeth primarily causes bone loss. Bone loss causes function and speech problems in that area, as the prosthesis to be made later is not aesthetic.”
Although many people try to live with missing teeth, the truth is; Missing teeth bring many negativities and diseases. Tooth loss can cause significant problems with eating, speaking, and other basic activities that may worsen over time. In addition, the remaining teeth in the jaw may shift to fill the space of the missing tooth. Missing teeth can weaken the overall structure of the mouth and cause additional tooth loss or injury that may worsen over time.
When the tooth is not placed in the tooth cavity, the opposite jaw tooth in the closure extends into the cavity. The teeth in the front and back of the extraction cavity also make a tilting movement towards the missing area. These tooth movements, which start within a year after tooth extraction, cause difficulties in the bridge or implant to be made later.
Implant construction is one of the best alternatives that can be applied if a tooth is pulled out and other teeth are intact in the mouth. Because there is no need to do any operation on the tooth on both sides of the missing tooth.
