What Symptoms Does an Improperly Applied Dental Implant Show?

Ali Osman Emiroğlu, Dentist of Emident Oral, Dental and Maxillofacial Clinic, explains how the wrongly applied dental implant shows symptoms.

“The first 21 days of implant application is a very important phase. A very severe pain in the 21-day period means that the implant is applied to an area close to the nerve vascular package.”

Although it is more comfortable and healthy than removable prostheses, some problems may occur after dental implant treatment. Incorrect positioning, infection, nerve damage may develop.

The dentist, who is experienced in implants, should decide to make an implant tooth as a result of a very good evaluation. The structure of the jawbone must be of thickness, height and quality to support the implant. A weak and osteoporosis-prone jawbone will fail because it cannot carry the implant.

Although implant applications give very successful results, there are some complications that can be seen after these applications. These include conditions such as redness, pain, swelling, bruising and pain. In some cases, problems such as inflammation and falling of the implant may be encountered after the implant application. In such cases, if there is no doctor’s fault, it is possible that the patient does not take into account the recommendations of the dentist and there are problems arising from the hygiene problem. Serious complications can also occur due to doctor’s error. Among the serious problems, sinus inflammation, nerve rupture, permanent numbness in the lips, loss of teeth next to the implant as a result of improper application, vertical and horizontal bone losses, soft tissue losses and many other serious problems may arise due to improper application of the implant.

Cold compress, mouthwash, antibiotic treatment and similar methods are used to prevent simple and possible complications such as pain, swelling, ache, redness and bruising. Thanks to these treatment methods, complications that are normal after implantation are eliminated in a short time. Problems arising from doctor’s error, lack of hygiene, and inaccuracy in the placement of the implant are more serious and their treatment is more serious than him. In order to avoid complications that require surgical intervention, you should listen to the doctor’s recommendations and choose your doctor very well.
